Jenny was a sophomore at the University of Oregon when her friend Alex invited her to a party at the house of a friend who Alex had gone to church camp with as kids. Jake was taking the year off from school in southern Oregon and had decided to stop in Eugene for the night to visit his high school friend Shawn, who was throwing a party that night.
Jake has this natural ability to make you feel instantly comfortable, and when he talks to you it feels like you've known him for years. Jenny made the first move and called Jake the next day because he was leaving town and she didn't know when she would see him again. Jake soon returned to Eugene to live and date Jenny, a serendipitous encounter turned into a ten year relationship, marriage, and now, Jenny and Jake are expecting their first child.
Jake expressed that what he loves about Jenny is that she's such a grounded person, that she never gets caught up in gender stereotypes and is confidant in herself and her person. The thing that they love and value in each other is their completely different outlooks on life. Jake is much more go with the flow, where as Jenny has a big picture trajectory. However, Jenny finds that the size of her goals, her drive, tenacity and whit can often overwhelm her, when Jake steps in he sees the big picture but focuses on what you have to do in this moment to get there. Jake's in-the-moment attitude? You can see it on the dance floor too.
Jenny and Jake chose The Foundry in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The wedding venue is located just outside of Portland on a bluff overlooking the Willamette River. The Foundry is a former industrial site with docks and a deck over the water where the two held their wedding ceremony. There are trails and paths along the water as well as a city park nearby that we used for photos.
